Another Thai pavilion, the City Sala, is traditionally built by the towns people. The pavilion is normally constructed within the city walls to serve as a meeting hall where the townspeople could congregate and participate in merit-making activities. Similar to the Thai Pavilion, the public hall also functioned as a resting place for townspeople when the city gate was closed
The City Sala at The Ancient City is modeled after an ancient pavilion at Wat Yai Intharam in Chon Buri Province. Once King Taksin the Great King (1767-1782) rested here with his troops to subdue a chief of rebellion, Nai Thong Yu Nok Lek.
